Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula | Perinatal & Parenting Coach
English & French speaker available in the Greater Seattle Area & Online

About Me

I am a French-American Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula, Perinatal & Parenting Coach, and mom of two wonderful kids based in the Greater Seattle Area.

As a certified Birth & Postpartum Doula and Perinatal Coach, I offer a safe and caring space to help you feel more serene, fulfilled and confident during and after birth. I believe that with parents planting the seeds of lifelong success, their little ones will also gain confidence and thrive!

I have been taking care of children from a young age and have extensive experience managing children as an activity leader. I was a Physical Education teacher in elementary schools in France and in bilingual schools in the US (New York, Seattle) for more than 10 years. I love seeing kids evolve and gain confidence in so many different ways.

I experienced pregnancy and childbirth both in France and in the US, through very different health care systems. I was wholly unprepared when I became a mom, even with my second child. While navigating my own parenting journey, I discovered I was not alone and wanted to share everything I had learnt - and am still learning - to expectant and new parents.

My Doula and Coach education includes certifications, trainings and workshops from leaders in evidence-based Doula training:

Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula certifications from LifeSpan Doulas.
DONA International approved trainings: Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, Lactation & Breast/Chest Feeding support workshop.
Spinning Babies® workshop.
Northwest Center and Perinatal Support Washington workshops: Perinatal Mental Health & Young Adult/Teen Parents, After the NICU - Supporting Parents' Mental Health.
American Heart Association Heart-Saver® First Aid CPR AED Certified for Adult, Child and Infant.

I am an authentic, passionate and enthusiastic human being. I love family hikes, yoga, paddling, kayaking and dancing. I love to travel with my family and explore the world. I need to connect with nature as it helps me relax and feel more grounded.

My Approach

As a trained professional and non-clinical caregiver, I provide physical, emotional and informational support to pregnant people and their partners before, during and after childbirth. Across these roles, I assist you to create and advocate for the best conditions for a smooth childbirth and postpartum experience.

Build self confidence and acquire some essential knowledge in and out of the medical box

Learn about birth physiology, comfort measures, medical procedures*, as well as your rights during your birthing experience.

Learn the different postpartum aspects, and prepare your own way and anticipate everything that can be ahead of birth.

Learn about the “normal” psycho-affective baby’s development, and avoid some worries.

Clarify your objectives as a parent and choose what is best for you and your baby (babies)

Define your birth plan, to maximize the chances to meet your expectations.

Define your postpartum plan, to better take care of your specific needs while responding to your baby’s ones.

Review or adjust your vision of parenting in light of the latest neuroscientific studies available.

Be the main actor(s) of your pregnancy, childbirth and amazing parenting journey

Organize an environment that allows you to be more at peace with your baby; find the tips, tricks and activities that help you feel better.

Adjust your vision as time goes by and as you experiment, listening to yourself and trusting your baby.

Assert your choices and values by sorting through external advices and setting boundaries for unsolicited opinions.

It takes a village and it's really all about teamwork

I offer a safe and caring space, where all of your questions and emotions are welcome (no taboo), as we build a trustful and supportive relationship.

My role is to help you make your own informed decisions with confidence, by providing evidence-based information about birth, postpartum, newborn care and parenting.

No matter when we get in touch, before or after birth, I’m more than happy to provide you the support you deserve.

Toolkit

Together, we can build a custom toolkit covering multiple topics, share some experience and help you feel more serene, fulfilled and confident. Each parent is different and we will focus on your specific needs.

Physiology of childbirth

I can help you with your expectations during labor and teach you strategies to make the experience more comfortable and positive (ex. breathing exercises, relaxation techniques).

Birth plan

Let's discuss where you'd like to give birth, your feelings about pain medication and coping mechanisms, your overall preferences, etc. I will support your needs and wishes.

The postpartum plan & your recovery

Anticipating your life after you've given birth. the actual beginning of your parental journey.

Breastfeeding & bottle-feeding techniques

After giving birth, you will need to decide how to feed your newborn. There are many benefits of breastfeeding, and I can help you with techniques.

Conscious parenting & reparenting

A parenting style which focuses on awareness, connectedness, and mindfulness. Rather than leading in an authoritative or permissive way, conscious parents are attuned to their child and/or children.

Attachement parenting

A parenting philosophy that emphasizes the nurturing connection between parents and their children. The goal of attachment parenting is to raise children who are secure, independent, and empathetic.

Managing sleep

How to handle biological norms vs society’s usual expectations, and its different variations.

Communication

Good communication between parents and children can help children develop a strong sense of self-esteem and healthy relationships. It also allows both parents and children to express their feelings and thoughts without fear of rejection.

Emotions

Children may have trouble identifying and managing their emotions. I can provide a toolkit to help your children work through their emotions

Baby’s motor development through free/non-restricted movement

Babies need to move around freely to develop their movement patterns and master balance and stability. Before walking, babies will usually have been crawling and pulling themselves up to stand.

Physiology of babies & parents

How to carry a baby respecting their physiology and preserving yourself.

Childcare equipment

What is really useful and physiological, while the industry sells so many materials that are useless and even harmful in some way.

Testimonials

Hear from parents about their experience with me and decide if my Birth & Postpartum Doula services and Prenatal & Parenting Coaching services are right for you and your family.

Nolwenn is a wonderful doula - kind, supportive, knowledgeable & helpful for our whole family. She was amazing during the birth of our little boy, her coaching made labor much more manageable, less painful and quicker. I would highly recommend her services prenatal and postpartum.

Midwife-attended water home birth

Both my husband and I are far from our families, and as first-time parents, hiring a doula was a great decision. Nolwenn played a major role in supporting us as we prepared to welcome our baby boy, as well as during birth and postpartum. She is a very professional, knowledgeable, and reassuring person, and very present for the family she is supporting. Nolwenn helped us prepare, through conversations about the birth plans, our preferences, and wishes, always providing helpful advice or presenting options to us. It was a major shift for me as a mom-to-be, as I felt more educated and empowered. When the day came, I felt prepared, strong, and excited, thanks to Nolwenn. When we learned that the baby was breached a little late in the game, Nolwenn helped us find the resources and information to approach the situation, finding great providers (acupuncture, PT) specialized in perinatal care. Her support and reactivity in that very overwhelming situation were a game-changer! The baby eventually turned! During childbirth, Nolwenn was a great support for both my husband and me, through reassuring and motivating words, and massaging. After birth, I really enjoyed the postpartum support she provided, more specifically advice, discussing doubts and questions about newborn care, and future parenting.

My wife speaks French and I... try to speak French. We knew we wanted a bilingual doula just to make things a bit easier in the chaos of the impending moment. What we got when we hired Nolwenn was so much more. Incredibly knowledgeable, kind, patient, and relatable, Nolwenn either already had a wealth of resources to share with us or took the time to find detailed answers to our questions. As a first-time father, there were so many questions I hadn't even thought about (e.g., did I want to catch the baby? I don't know- did I??), and Nolwenn not only put these in my head but walked me through the different options. Moreover, she took the time to ask me about what I was worried about and how she could address my concerns. For those of you who, like me, thought a doula was primarily for the mother-to-be, let me tell you that Nolwenn is there for the couple and offers equal support to both partners. When our child arrived a few days earlier than planned, Nolwenn dropped everything and rushed (through traffic) to join us at the hospital. She made this whole process much more calm and comfortable for both my wife and I and I cannot recommend her highly enough.

I feel lucky that Nolwenn was there to support me for a few months. She provided a lot of insightful information and key takeaways to serenely welcome my baby. I truly enjoyed our kind conversations, which highlighted actionable advices and gave me the confidence I needed in my future role as a mother. I encourage all moms or expecting moms to reach out to Nolwenn. She knows how to best support you along the way with a lot of kindness.

I’m so glad we had the chance to work with Nolwenn as our overnight postpartum doula. She visited us about ten nights in the first few weeks after our son was born and I’m not sure how we would have survived without her! The knowledge, calming energy, and support she brought to our home was invaluable. She was a wonderful companion to me during middle of the night feedings, and quickly whisked him away to help me maximize my sleep (I never heard a peep after they left the room). I especially appreciated the care with which she treated our little guy and the tips she showed us as she learned about his needs and preferences. She also made sure we felt empowered as parents to make our own decisions and followed our lead with a flexible philosophy. On top of it all, Nolwenn was extremely professional, going out of her way to find us backup care, showing up right on schedule, sending reminders, and connecting us to resources. I hope others are so lucky to benefit from her caring support!

Postpartum Doula Services

Nolwenn was very professional in all of our communication prior to hiring her as our doula and had information on her website that gave us an idea of her approach before even reaching out. She was very knowledgeable about the birthing and postpartum experience and was clear she would help us make the best choices for our family without judgment. Prior to the birth of our daughter, Nolwenn was reassuring and encouraged me to take care of myself in my last few weeks of pregnancy. She offered suggestions for different ways to do so. She also provided a detailed questionnaire for my husband and I to fill out to determine the birth plan that worked best for us. She walked us through it in detail and put together the plan to have ready to hand off at the hospital. At 38 weeks pregnant this was immensely helpful! Nolwenn also worked with us as a postpartum Doula. She took great care of our daughter when we needed a nap and help with bottles, dishes and laundry. So helpful and necessary in those early days! She taught us about baby wearing which my daughter loves and has made our lives much easier. We also appreciated the parenting advice she gave us that boosted our confidence that we were doing the best for our daughter. Nolwenn is very professional and knowledgeable about the birthing process and newborn care. She is encouraging and gives great advice based on individual family needs!

Nolwenn helped me take care of my twin newborn, both as a night and daytime doula. Not only she was caring and loving to the babies, but she was also an amazing support to me and my husband as first time parents — both emotionally and practically. She has deep knowledge of infants care and shared great advice to help with sleep, feeds, and development milestones. She was also helpful with breastfeeding. Hiring a doula in our first few weeks was the best investment to ramp up smoothly in our new parenting roles!
